Agnes Rebecca "Becky" Shasteen

Agnes Rebecca Shasteen passed away July 26, 2015 at 10:15 PM at her home. Becky was born July 2, 1921 to Earl H. Koger and Blanche Painter Koger. She was born in Frankfort Ohio, the town founded by her great great grandfather John McNeill. She married Charles W. Shasteen April 24, 1941; he preceded her January 29, 1991.

Becky graduated in 1939 from Frankfort High School, which she proudly represented at the Northwest Territories Sesquicentennial Celebration. She was employed by Whaley and Harper Electric shop until 1941 when she married and moved to a farm near Bainbridge, they moved to Bainbridge in 1953. She retired from the Paxton Township branch of the Chillicothe & Ross County Public Library in 1990 with 34 years of service. Becky loved working with the children who visited the library. For story time she portrayed Mother Goose and was still called Mother Goose by many of her library kids.

Becky was a charter member of the Bainbridge Historical Society, the Bainbridge Senior Citizens, Circleville Chapter of the OES and the Bainbridge United Methodist Church.

Becky was predeceased by her parents and sister Anne Ricketts.

Becky is survived by a son, Michael (Bonnie) Shasteen of Florida; daughter and caregiver, Susan (Melvin) Johnson of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Kim Carter of Columbus and Clay (Zoe) Shasteen of Florida; great grandchildren, Eddie Carter and Jaressa, Marina and Cameron Shasteen; nephew Don (Barbara) Tootle of Dublin Ohio and special friends June Gregg, Barbara Wilhite, Evelyn Houseman and Maurice Grimes.

Visitation with the family will be 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday August 1, 2015 at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home, Bainbridge. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM with Pastor Matt Brookes officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Paxton Area Life Squad, PO Box 614 or the Bainbridge United Methodist Church, PO Box 528, Bainbridge, Ohio 45612.
