Albert E. Mowbray, 61, of Chillicothe, died at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was born on Sunday, March 8, 1964, in Chillicothe, a son of the former Clara Mowbray. On September 2, 1983, he married the former Rhonda Barnes, who survives.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, Albert is survived by his mother, Clara (Don) Huffman of Frankfort, three children, Tia Mowbray, A.J. Mowbray, and Felicia (Dustin) Whitley, all of Chillicothe, three grandchildren, Elainy Hatfield, Walker Whitley, Leo Whitley, two brothers, Rob Mowbray, and Duane Atwood, both of Frankfort, nieces and nephews, Christina Martin, Zack Mowbray, Ashley Evans, Josh Atwood, Erica Mowbray, and Mark Mowbray, special family friends, the McCords, the Strausbaughs, and the Park families, Ryan W., Bre M, Robin C., Brian K., Bud Y., Joy B., Missy G., and Randy H. and many other extended family and friends. Albert was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jean Vest, and an uncle, Rick Vest.
Albert was a 1982 graduate of Adena High School, and the Pickaway-Ross Vocational Center, where he studied welding. Albert proudly served his country in the United States Navy, stationed on the USS Charleston. He worked for RCA for 13 years, and TFO for 12 years. Albert was a lifetime member of the Navy Petty Officers, volunteered at the VA Medical Center, and at the Forest E. Everhart Memorial Golf Course. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Washington Redskins.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Rowland Memorial Cemetery, Chillicothe, with Craig Reichert officiating. Following the graveside service, everyone is invited to a tribute to Albert at the Ross County Fairgrounds. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the VA Hospice, 17273 State Route 104, Chillicothe OH 45601.
