Arthur David May, 85, of Frankfort, passed from this life at 5:47 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Greenfield Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on Friday, September 15, 1939, in Fort Worth, Texas, the son of the late Arthur C. and Dorothy L. Gilcrease May.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Brian May, grandson, Joshua David May, three great-grandsons, numerous family members in Texas, and Ruthie, the mother of his son. David is also survived by many caring health professionals who took care of him the last several years. Those include the staff at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Heartland Hospice and those at Greenfield Skilled Nursing. David was also blessed with many Frankfort area "Angels" who helped him when they saw him in need.
David attended Poly High School, Fort Worth TX, where he was on the basketball and swim teams, and played piano for the school's concerts and musicals. David thoroughly enjoyed his time as an Eagle Scout. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served on the USS Fessenden Destroyer Escort out of Pearl Harbor during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Ft. Worth, TX. He was a mechanical engineer working at designing and installing conveyor systems. That work brought him to Chillicothe where he thought was a good place to stay. Later, he moved to Frankfort and was content because he said it had everything he needed, a bank, post office, hardware store, the Dairy Cone, and many wonderful people in the community.
David's wish was to be cremated and returned home to his native Fort Worth, Texas. He will be placed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. At a later date, military honors will be accorded in Chillicothe by the United States Navy assisted by the Edward Lee McClain High School Cadet Corps. David requested that the Ebright Funeral Home of Frankfort assist in fulfilling his wishes.
