Bertha Mae Pettiford

Bertha Mae Pettiford, 88, of Roxabel, died at 5:00am on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Westmoreland Place, Chillicothe. She was born on August 23, 1927 in Lyndon, the daughter of the late John and Sara Harris Banks. On June 21, 1952 she married Dwight C. "Pappy" Pettiford, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1980.

Surviving are three children, Dwight C., "Buttons" Pettiford, Annie Pettiford and Jeney (Todd) Harris all of Frankfort, four grandchildren; Todd and Brandon Harris, Keenen and Niall Pettiford, five great grandchildren; Mya, Quincey, Avery, Parker and Brix who will be born in September, one sister; Margaret White of Plain City, OH. She was preceded in death by two daughters; Helen Banks and Patty "Sis" Pettiford, two sisters; Mary Maxine Munson and Irene Pettiford and one brother, John Banks.

Bertha Mae was a nurse's aide at Valley View Care Center and retired after thirty four years of dedicated and loving service. She was a member of the Roxabel Second Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary Society. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. One of the memories of Bertha Mae that will be held by many will be getting a piece of her famous lemon meringue or blue berry pies at the Fish Fry held at the church.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 in the Roxabel Second Baptist Church with Mary Ann Pettiford officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with Bertha Mae's family at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort on Thursday, August 4, 2016 , from 6 to 8p.m.
