Bessie Mae Clements

Bessie Mae Clements 96, of Bainbridge died 5:50 pm Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Traditions of Chillicothe. She was born May 28, 1918 in Greenup, KY the daughter of the late Oscar Adkins and Ellen (Griffith) Adkins Evans Holbert.

On March 26, 1936 she married Clyde W. Clements who died September 5, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lewis Clements; grandson, Jerry Young; sisters, Susie McKenzie, Mildred Lytle, Helen McDaniel, Madeline Myers, Birdie Potter, Belva Montgomery, Eva Rapp and Dovey Holbert; brothers, Homer and Walter Evans and Robert, John and Glenn Holbert.

Bessie is survived by four children, Phyllis (Larry) Bullen of Williamsburg, Shirley (Clark, Jr.) Walley, Cathy (Jon Mark) Hall and Mary Lou (Dana) Schmidt all of Bainbridge; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Southers of Waverly and brother, Joe Holbert of Bainbridge and many nieces and nephews.

Bessie was known for her homemade bread and pies. She also had a passion for Daffodils and quilting.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Pastor Matt Brookes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. The Clements family will receive family and friends from 5-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
