Betty Jane Baker

Betty Jane Baker 79 of Bainbridge died 10:07 am Monday, August 18, 2014 at her home. She was born August 12, 1935 in Pickaway County the daughter of the late Lester and Opal F. Griffith Brady.
She is survived by her husband of 59 yrs Harold Baker; children, Scott (Teri Williamson) Baker and Jodi (Dale) Jones; grandkids, Taylor and Austin Baker and Sydney and Bowie Jones; sister, Janice (Barry) Porter; brother, Marvin (Marie Martin) Brady; a special mother figure, Becky Shasteen; sister-in-law, Marge Echleberry Brady; three adopted grandkids; four Godchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jerry Brady.
In 1953 Betty graduated from Westerville High School. She worked for the Bureau of Workers Comp then for Atty Scott M. Knisley for about 13 yrs. She was then employed by Harshbargers Cardinal Store followed by the Ross County Library Bainbridge Branch where she worked for 37 yrs.
Betty and Harold were instrumental in reorganizing the Boosters Club at Paint Valley in 1963 where Betty was Secretary/Treasurer. She had also served as Secretary/ Treasurer for the Bainbridge Historical Society and the Bainbridge Little League.
Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Bainbridge United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Brookes officiating. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery. The Baker family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the church and from 9 am until the time of service at the church.
