Betty Jean Buck

Betty Jean Buck, 85, of Greenfield, died at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at her home. She was born on Thursday, January 16, 1936, in New Martinsburg the daughter of the late Neal and Madge Leaverton Wheaton. She married John R. Buck on April 12, 1955, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2011.

She is survived by two daughter, Cheryl “Cheri” Buck of Greenfield and Tara Barton of Hillsboro, two granddaughters, Katlynn Hammond and Breanna Barton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Kathleen Wilson, Idabell Simmons, Rosemary Minton, Sara Jane Wheaton and four brothers, Otis, Nevil, Dean and Homer Wheaton.

Betty was a 1953 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School and was a member of the Greenfield Church of Christ. Betty had worked at Hobart in Hillsboro and she volunteered at Head Start. She especially loved the time she worked as a Demo Representative at K-Mart and Walmart in Hillsboro introducing new products.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Danny Dodds officiating. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband in Greenfield Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with her family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to the time of the service.
