Betty A. Lowman 88 of Peebles died 10:40 pm Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her home. She was born March 28, 1928 in Pike County the daughter of the late Enoch and Bertha Knisley Penwell. In 1942 she married Virgil J. Lowman who died November 13, 1975.

Betty is survived by her children, Sharon (Larry) Johnson of Hillsboro, Audrey (Doug) Shoemaker of Peebles, Norma (Sam) Tackett of Hillsboro, Sturgil Lowman of Piketon, Harold (Linda) Lowman of Peebles and Don (Dorothy) Lowman of Waverly; 21 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren; sister, Rhindabelle (Carl) Grooms of Washington CH; brother, Charles Penwell of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews; and her dog Bell.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Raypole; son, Bill Lowman; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to the Paint Valley Jamboree.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Pastor Wayne Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the New Fain Cemetery. Friends may visit with Betty's family from 11 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
