Carol Rose Joyce (Acord) Spangler, of Chillicothe, died Friday, March 19, at 12:18 p.m. in Westmoreland Place, Chillicothe, OH after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born May 17, 1937, in Chillicothe, OH to Clyde Edward and Willo Mary Ellen (Patterson) Acord. On October 6, 1957, she married the love of her life, Floyd Ernest Spangler.
Also surviving are daughters, Lorie (Shane) Bethel and Janet (Marc) Littler; sisters, Patricia Edler and Marilyn (David) Skaggs, whom she was very close to. She was Grammy to her grandchildren, Darcie Scott, Kyle (Sarah) Littler, Chad (Megan) Bethel, Kevin (Alyssa) Littler; and great-grandchildren, Kyla Littler, Kayne Scott, Drake Littler, Rhett Scott, Ellie Rose Littler, Gatlin Bethel, Finley Bethel, and Ezra Littler, all of Chillicothe and all of whom will hold her memory dear.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers-in-law, Paul Edler, Glen (Madeline) Spangler, Gale (Etta) Spangler, William Spangler, Douglas Spangler, and sister-in-law, Juanita (Jack) Hanson. Carol was much loved by her nieces and nephews, all of whom she was close to. She was also predeceased by nieces, Christy Hanson Withers and Lee Anna Spangler Speakman; nephews, Patrick Hanson and Gary Spangler.
Carol graduated from Unioto High School in 1955 and grew up on the Hopewell Farm in western Ross County. Life on the farm was a happy life, and she loved her parents and sisters very much.
She was a member of the North Fork Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, for many years serving as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher, and most recently a member of the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. Carol was a homemaker taking wonderful care of her family including the many years she was the daily caregiver for many of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces. She was very involved in her girls’ lives, being their 4-H advisor and Girl Scout leader. Carol loved her family very much and was always there for them.
A public graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 22 at Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, with Todd Thomas and Rev. Jim Grove officiating. Those attending will be required to wear face coverings and socially distance. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer Foundation of America 822 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001 in her honor or to Frankfort Presbyterian Church.
