Charles "Rusty" Russell Cowman

Charles Russell "Rusty" Cowman, 70, of Bainbridge, OH passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his residence.
He was born October 11, 1943 in Hillsboro, OH to the late James Russell Cowman and Millie Mershon Cartwright. Charlie was a member of the Bainbridge Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served from 1961 to 1964. During his time in the Navy, he was aboard the U.S.S. Essex as a gunners mate. He was also a veteran of the Ohio National Guards where he served from October 1977 till his retirement in 1997 as a staff sergeant. Rusty retired from Palm Harbor Homes in Sabina, Ohio in 2008. Rusty enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Daughtery Cowman of Bainbridge, whom he married March 11,1967; one son Joe (Lynn)Cowman of Bainbridge, OH; two grandchildren Stephanie Pendell and Brady Cowman; two brothers Mike (Mary Anne) Stone of New Petersburg, OH, Kevin (Donna) Stone of Mobile, Alabama; one brother-in-law Larry Rogers of Marshall, OH; one sister-in-law Linda Daughtery Lowman of Bainbridge, OH; his mother-in-law Gracie Daughtery of Bainbridge, OH and several nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Francis Jo Cowman Rogers and his brother-in-law Calvin "Bunk" Daughtery.
Visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 from 5-8 pm at the Bainbridge Church of Christ in Bainbridge, OH. Steve Alexander and Don Thomas will officiate the funeral services on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Bainbridge Church of Christ at 1 pm. Burial will follow in the Bainbridge Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Highland County Honor Guard.
