Charlotte Ruth Wood

Charlotte Ruth Briggs Wood, 94, of Clarksburg, died at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. She was born on May 25, 1921 in Buckskin Township, the daughter of the late Jesse C. and Elizabeth Jamison Briggs. On August 21, 1941 she married Willard Wood, who survives. They were married almost 74 years.

Also surviving are three children, Charles (Ann) Wood of Clarksburg, Patricia (Doug) Slusher of Columbus, Barbara (Jeff) Wood Salyers of Carroll OH, six grandchildren, Joel Wood, Andy Wood, Katie Slusher, Nathan Slusher, Rebekah Salyers, Rachel Salyers, five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Robert (Doris) Briggs of Hilliard, and Thomas (Betty) Briggs of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilda J. Pappas, and Evelyn Schulz, and two brothers, Dudley and Albert Briggs.

Charlotte was a 1939 graduate of Frankfort High School. She was active in the Estell Chapel, the Frankfort Presbyterian Church, and the Clarksburg United Methodist Church. She was part of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church choir, and a Grandma at the kids club. Charlotte served as a 4H advisor for the Clarksburg Gardeners and Homemakers for more than twenty years, and was a member of both Clarksburg and Pomona Grange. She was a 70 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, in the former Concord Chapter 520 and the current Chillicothe Chapter. Charlotte made the world a better place.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 in the Clarksburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Caddell officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit with the Wood family at the church on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
