Cleda Merritt

Cleda Merritt, 76, of Williamsburg, KY, died on Friday morning, June 10, 2016, at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital and Respiratory Care Center in Mount Vernon, KY. She was born on July 8, 1939 in Jackson County, KY, the daughter of the late Caleb and Marie Vickers Stapleton.

She is survived by two daughters; Patty A. Jenkins of Indianapolis, IN, Brenda Sullivan of Williamsburg, KY, one son Lee Roy Merritt of London, KY, thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, two sisters; Jewell Deaton and Virgie Merritt of Greenfield, OH, two brothers; Carlos Stapleton of Greenfield, OH and James Stapleton of Stanton, OH and several nieces and nephews. Cleda was preceded in death by two sons; Ernest David Merritt and Thomas E. Merritt, an infant daughter, Betty Lou Merritt, two sisters; Dorothy Cross and Lucy Stapleton and one brother, Orville Stapleton.

Cleda was attended the former Bible Missionary Church in Greenfield.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Pastor Ken Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in Gilboa Cemetery, New Petersburg. Friends may visit with the Merritt family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
