D. Michael (Mike) Haas, 68 of Bainbridge, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Highland District Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio and raised in Bainbridge by his parents, Robert and Virginia (Chambliss) Haas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Ramey Haas in 2000.
Mike graduated from Paint Valley High School in 1964, the Ohio State University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Xavier University in 1975 with his Masters in Business Administration. He lived in Cincinnati for many years and was a Contract Engineer for various companies, throughout his career, including Proctor and Gamble. His jobs took him both here and abroad. Mike held his private pilot's license, loved woodworking, gardening and making stained glass.
Mike was a member of the Bainbridge Historical Society, a former member of the Bainbridge Methodist Church, a former member of the Boy Scouts of America and a member and past President of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, at Ohio State University.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (Hart) Fagan-Haas and his children Susan (Erich) Mueller of Ithaca, New York; Dr. Douglas (Tara) Haas of Columbus, Ohio; Sarah Haas of Hilo, Hawaii and stepsons, Patrick (Norah) Fagan, Columbus, Ohio and Michael (Zach Roybal) Fagan of Baltimore, Maryland. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lily and Wolfgang Mueller; ZoA« and Simone Haas; Kalliopi Salinger and step-grandchildren, Clare and Abi Fagan
in addition to his mother Virginia Haas of Bainbridge and his brother, Patrick (Pam) Haas of Chillicothe and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Haas and his brother, P. Gregory (Greg) Haas.
A Memorial Service, in his honor, will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the Bainbridge Methodist Church.
