David G. Van Meter, 78, of Frankfort, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in Adena regional Medical Center, Chillicothe following a lingering illness. He was born July 23, 1932 at Frankfort, Ohio the son of the late Everett and Bertha Haynes Van Meter. On May 16, 1952 he married the former Helen "Midge" Bowdle and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Mitchell G. (Debbie) Van Meter and one daughter, Tina Van Meter all of Frankfort, three grandchildren; Mandy Davis, Andrea Wilson, Hollie Newlun, five great grandchildren, two sisters; Ethel Ann "Skip" Hathaway Givens of Frankfort, Phyllis (Doug) Paxton of Kingston. He was preceded in death by two twin sisters; Mary and Betty Van Meter.
David was a 1951 graduate of Frankfort High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 - American Legion. Dave retired from the Chillicothe Telephone Co. after 40 years of service.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort where military honors will be accorded by the Frankfort American Legion.
