David F. Pence, 84, of Chillicothe, passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 in the Pickering House, Lancaster. He was born on Friday, March 17, 1939 in Chillicothe, a son of the late George H. and Rachel Sullivan Pence. On January 21, 1956, David married the former Cecelia Caldwell. When the two teenagers were married, many said it wouldn't last, but their love endured and soon would have been married sixty-eight years.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia, one daughter; Cecelia "Sandy" (French "Tony") Hamner of Chillicothe, one granddaughter, Jessica Smith of Amarillo, TX and his fur babies, Nino and Miss Kitty, one sister; Linda Cassel of Chillicothe, one brother; Dwight Pence of Urbana. David was preceded in death by his two sons; Roy B. Pence and David Pence, Jr., three sisters; Gail, Helen, and Nancy, five brothers; Murl, Jack, Lewis, Jim and Herbert.
David was a retired carpenter, retiring in 1997 from Local #200 in Columbus. He had worked as a carpenter for forty-two years. After he retired, he and Cecelia traveled to many places. He longed for one more trip to Wyoming, but his health would not allow this desire. David was a family man that put his responsibility as a parent and a provider a top priority.
In keeping with David's wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME of Frankfort is serving the family.
