David Kerns Wilkin, 85, of Wilmington, died at 4:51 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born on Friday, February 9, 1940, in Highland County, the only son of the late Guy E. and Louise Kerns Wilkin. On May 31, 1969, he married the former Linda Getz, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by two daughters, Sarah Wilkin of Wilmington, Katherine (Clint Herbert) Wilkin, two grandsons, Asher and Otto, one sister-in-law, Ruth (John) Arvai, one brother-in-law, John Dehan, dear cousins, Mary Ann Bonds, Rob Young, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his step-mother, Mabel Wilkin, and dear cousins, Wanda Wilkin Lucas, and Tom Young.
David was a 1958 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School, and earned a bachelors degree in industrial education, which he made a lifelong career of. He was a member of the former Greenfield Masonic Lodge, the National Education Association, and the Ohio Education Association. He loved hunting, fishing, gun-smithing, and being outdoors.
A funeral service for David will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 in the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home, Greenfield. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield.
