Dean E. Cox , 90, of Frankfort, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 in Vineyards at Concord, Frankfort. He was born in Buckskin Township on August 19, 1921, the son of the late Orland Lewis and Inez Marie Beechler. On June 5, 1946 he married the love of his life, Ruth Anderson Dearth and she preceded him in death on August 19, 1951.
He is survived by one daughter; Sandra Huffman (Jim Stewart) of Frankfort, one step son; Jack (Linda) Dearth of Prescott Valley, AZ, one granddaughter; Tina Huffman, one grandson and his best buddy; Gary Dean Huffman, two great grandsons; Tyler Houser and Matthew Henry, one uncle; Ernie Beechler of Greenfield, one sister-in-law; Diane Cox of Traverse City, MI, six neices; Nita (Bill) Hawes, Mary (Ed) Geiger, Ryckie (Dan) Skeba, Billie Radamacher, Donna (Bob) Payton, Janice Hayes, two nephews; Raymond (Cindy) Clouser and Jack (Martha) Cox. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Clouser and Fern Meffert and four brothers, Bill, Richard, Ralph and Dwight Cox.
Dean retired in 1977 as a sheet metal worker with the Sheet Metal Local 24 of Dayton. He was a US Army veteran having served in World War II with the 153rd Field Artillery Unit and was a truck driver for the Red Ball Express. He saw action in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Dean was a member of AmVets Post 4, VFW Post 108 where he was a lifetime meber of both, American Legion Post 62 and Eagles Aerie 600 of Chillicothe.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Chaplain Bruce Hines officiating. Burial will follow in South Salem Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Adena Hospice, 111 W Water St., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
