Donald W. Basye, 84, of South Salem, died at 2:07 a.m., Sunday, June 4, 2023, at his home following a lingering illness. He was born in Fayette County on Wednesday, January 25, 1939, a son of the late Charles and Doris Lafferty Basye. He married the former Cora C. Skaggs on October 13, 1962. Cora preceded him in death on March 28, 2020.
He is survived by two daughters; Angela F. Basye of South Salem, Christian D. Basye and her special friend, Margaret Andrews of Circleville, three grandsons; Ronald Houseman II, Brandon Houseman and John Davis II, seven great grandchildren; Ronald, Christopher, Raven, Bella Cora Rose and Madelynn Houseman, Easton Davis, Kaleb Rinehart and Isaac Garrison. He is also survived by one sister, Judy (Denver) Herron, one brother, Curtis (Joi) Basye and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Wayne Basye, three sisters, Rosie, Marge and Maribelle, four brothers, Ike, John, Webb and Eddie.
Donald retired after forty years working at The Waddell Company, assembling the quality show cases The Waddell Company was known for. For several years he attended the United Brethren Church in Greenfield.
Donald will be laid to rest with his family in the Good Hope Cemetery. No visitation or funeral service will be held. The ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield is serving the family.
