Donald R. “Dick” McKay, 87, of Clarksburg, Ohio, went to be with his Lord on Monday morning, July 2, 2018 at Valley View Alzheimers Center, Frankfort. Dick came into this world on November 19, 1930 in New Burlington, the son of the late Albert E. and Ada Mills McKay. On June 10, 1951 he married the former Joan McConnaha, and she preceded him in death on September 30, 2013.
Dick is survived by two children; Cindy (Bruce) Sykes of Williamsport, Greg (Elaine) McKay of Zanesfield, daughter-in-law; Renee McKay of Washington C.H., twelve grandchildren, Matt (Jenny) Sykes, Mike (Brook) Sykes, Brent Sykes, B.J. Sykes all of Clarksburg, Dan McKay of Columbus, Joel McKay of Zanesfield, Willy (Lisa) McKay of Irrewillipe, Victoria, Australia, Sam McKay of Louisville, KY, Katie (Josh) Houck of Jeffersonville, Juliane McKay of Columbus, Deidre McKay, Josh McKay of Washington CH., four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Preston, Owen and And Sykes of Clarksburg, Alexis Houck of Columbus and Hannah Houck of Jeffersonville, three sisters; Jeanette (Vernon) Musser of Worthington, Rosalie (John) Beers of Xenia, Rita (John) Howell of Wilmington, two brothers; Robert (Anna Mae) McKay of Colorado Springs, CO, and Frank McKay of Wilmington, and one brother-in-law, Harold McConnaha of Maineville OH. He was preceded in death by one son; Doug McKay, one brother; Wilbur McKay, and one sister; Lois McKay Ervin.
Dick was a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church.
Dick enjoyed being a dairy farmer for almost 60 years. He participated in many Jersey organizations and shows. He judged many shows at county fairs in Ohio and neighboring states. He enjoyed working with young people in the show ring. He was president of the Ohio Jersey Breeders Association for two terms and a director for 35 years. He was presented the Ohio Pioneer Service Award in 1987. He was also inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame in 1989. Dick loved the Jersey breed and getting to know others who shared the same passion.

A funeral service for Dick will be held at 12pm, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at THE EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort. Mark Armstrong and Rev. Jerry Caddell will officiate. Burial will follow on Wednesday at New Burlington Cemetery. Family and friends can visit with Dick’s family on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
