Dorothy S Cunningham

Dorothy S. Cunningham, 85, of Frankfort, died at 1:18p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 16, 1926 in Idaho, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Williams Shanks. On June 20, 1947 she married C. Maynard Cunningham in the Leesburg Friends Church. Later in 1947 they established residence on Norman Hill Road in Ross County. Maynard preceded her in death on April 12, 2003 after 55 years of devoted life together.

She is survived by three children; Gary (Judith) Cunningham of Frankfort, Deborah (Randall) Dutton of Tallmadge Ohio, and Timothy Cunningham of Oak Hill, five grandchildren; Stephanie Scott, Kimberly Welcome, Matthew Cunningham, Rebecca Clagg and Amy Ferrell, as well as thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister; Juanita Johnson and three brothers; Robert, Harold and Lewis Shanks.

Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Fairfield High School. She was a faithful member of Frankfort United Methodist Church, a member of the Chauncel Choir, and the Emmaus Group, a charter member of the Methodist Mellowtones, and an active member and past president of the United Methodist Women, holding many offices. She was a charter member of the Concord Emergency Squad and served over ten years in that capacity. Dorothy was a member of the Daughters of Lydia Sunday School, a former Concord Grange member, and President of Frankfort PTO.

Funeral service will be held at 11a.m., on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Frankfort United Methodist Church with Pastor Neil Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, FRANKFORT on Friday from 5 to 8p.m..
