Dorothy L. "Maxine" Winland, 89, of Greenfield, went home to heaven on Saturday, February 24, 2024, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born on Wednesday, October 24, 1934, in Highland County, a daughter of the late Edmund and Edith Cheek Roberts.
She is survived by her children, one son; Virgil (Beth) Winland, Jr. of Bainbridge, two daughters; Mary (Bob) Hafer of Bainbridge and Edith Winland of Greenfield and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister; Shirley Montavon of Sabina, one brother, James Roberts of Frankfort. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen and five brothers: John, Dean, Dave, Melvin and Gary.
Maxine was a loving and wonderful mother. She was an excellent gift giver. She enjoyed her flowers and McDonalds. Maxine was a dedicated employee at Fayette County Memorial Hospital. She worked there for thirty-five years.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Pastor Roger Newkirk officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the South Salem Cemetery. Friends can visit with Maxine's family on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
