Dwight Beam

January 28, 1951 — February 26, 2025

Dwight D. Beam, 74, of Chillicothe, Ohio left this earth too soon for his heavenly home on February 26, 2025. He was born on January 28, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Leroy Beam and Irene Beam Aldenderfer.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, the former Susan Elliott, whom he married on May 30, 1971. Dwight will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by Susan and his three children, Heather (Trent) Bledsoe, Gretchen (Chad) McIlvaine, and Eric (Heidi) Beam. He was Pap to nine grandchildren, Noah Bledsoe, Katelyn (Kayge) Thwaits, Ben Bledsoe; Levi, Tanner, and Erica Beam; Makayla, Kynleigh, and Carlie McIlvaine. Also surviving are his three sisters, Roseanna (Charles) Strong, Deborah (Rick) McDonald, and Pamela Angelo, his Aunt Marvine Hall, and many nieces and nephews.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Joe Aldenderfer, grandparents Grover (Gaynell) Beam and Carl (Odie) Hall, two brothers, Ronald and Robert Beam, two sisters, Deanna Turton and Patricia Beam, his in-laws, Robert (Lily) Elliott, a brother and sister in law, Robert (Beth) Elliott, and many aunts and uncles.

Dwight was a 1969 graduate of Unioto High School. He retired from Kenworth Truck Company after 38 years of service. He attended Brookside Church, and was a member of the Freemasons. Dwight was an avid supporter of Unioto Schools where he was a former school board member, athletic boosters member, part of the football chain gang crew, and proud member of the OMG. He loved Ohio State football and spent several years working as a Redcoat.

Dwight will be forever remembered for his loving support of his family and friends. If there was an activity involving a grandchild, that’s where he would be. He was their biggest fan!
