Elizabeth "Betty" Stroup

Elizabeth E. "Betty" Stroup, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. She was born on Saturday, October 4, 1947 in Blairstown, NJ, a daughter of the late George Earl, Jr. and Jessie E. Wildrick Townshend. Betty married Lonnie E. Stroup on August 5, 1966 and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2017.

She is survived by their two children: Penny (Randy) Wells of Frankfort and Shane E. Stroup of Chillicothe, two grandchildren: Rachel (Charlie) Roman and Ryan (Grace) Wells, five great - grandchildren: Ross, Rhett, Reed, Oaklyn and Colt. Betty is also survived by her brother: George Earl (Linda) Townshend, III of Alameda, CA and a niece, Jessica. Betty was preceded in death by her grandsons, Jeffrey and Timothy Wells and a brother-in-law, Michael Stroup.

Betty was a graduate of Lenape High School in New Jersey. She worked as a payroll clerk at the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She also worked as the Village Clerk of Frankfort for twenty years.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort. Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Lonnie, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Relatives and friends can visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
