Frank Neil Yoakem, a life-long resident of Ross County, left this world March 13, 2011 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton Ohio after a short illness.

He was born Frankie Neil Yoakem to George W. and Helen (Treat) Yoakem on December 16, 1930. He had 4 brothers, Bob, Donnie, Paul and Jon Yoakem and loved to tell stories about their lives growing up during simpler, more modest times. Frank married Dorothy G. (Howell) Yoakem on January 3rd, 1950 after meeting in Fort Smith, Arkansas while stationed in the Army during the Korean War. They raised four children and made their home in Bourneville for the past 36 years. Frank worked in various fields such as meat-cutting, house painting, masonry, and maintenance, finally retiring from the VA Medical Center after 24 years. Frank had many interests and hobbies including collecting, looking for and replicating Indian artifacts, rock carving, rabbit hunting, genealogy and woodworking. He also loved a good joke or story and was quick with more than a few of his own.



Frank is survived by brother Paul (Janet) Yoakem, children Mike (Linda) Yoakem, Pam (Becky Howard) Mitchell, Kathy Sinclair, Marty (Geroy Cook) Yoakem, grandchildren Brandee, Jennifer, Michael Jr., Ollivia, Ryan, Donnie, Bethany, great-grandchildren Cameron, Katie, Cash, Killian, Daisy, and Camile.



He was preceded in death by wife Dorothy G. (Howell) Yoakem, infant granddaughter, Ronni Jean, brothers Bob, Donnie, and Jon Yoakem, and his fishing and hunting buddy Floyd Sims.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Bainbridge. Burial will follow in the Twin Township Cemetery where there will a military service accorded by the Ross County Honor Guard. Friends may call from 11 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
