Franklin S. Irvine, 90, of Greenfield, died at 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at his home. He was born on October 21, 1925, in Greenfield, the son of the late Robert M. and Ella Mae Head Irvine. On June 7, 1958, he married the former Janice K. Shields, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert F. Irvine, one daughter, Suzanne (David) Sharp, one grandson, Aaron Mains Sharp, one sister, Elizabeth Anne McGuffin, all of Greenfield, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Adam Irvine Sharp, one sister, Mary Hannah Watson, and one brother, Robert H. Irvine.
Franklin was a 1943 graduate of McClain High School, and served in the United States Army. He worked as a farmer for many years, retiring at age 80. Franklin was a member of the Pisgah Mt. Pleasant Federated Church, and in 2013 was honored as the congregation’s oldest living member.
In keeping with Franklin’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family, and burial will occur in South Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Adam Irvine Sharp Memorial Scholarship, c/o Merchants Bank, 117 S. Washington St, Greenfield OH 45123.
