Gar Clark Lane

Gar C. Lane, 83, of Frankfort, died at 4:20a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Signature Healthcare of Chillicothe. He was born on March 30, 1932 in Frankfort, the son of the late Benton Clark and Martha R. Sturgeon Lane. On September 6, 1950, he married the former Phyllis Acton, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Lee Lane, of Frankfort, one daughter, Judy (Chuck) Sowers of Clarksburg, granddaughters, Jessica Lane, Amanda Lane, Kim (Lincoln) Bossert, grandson, Brian (Heather) Sowers, great-granddaughters, Ariana Lane, Greenlee, Hayley, and Allie Bossert, Kamryn and Kortney Sowers, and great-grandson, Maceson Sowers, sister, Kay Miner, sisters-in-law, Henrietta Lane, June Acton, and Jean Acton, all of Frankfort, and numerous special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Lane, and a great-granddaughter, Brenlee Lane.
Gar was a 1950 graduate of Frankfort High School, and was a lifelong farmer in the Frankfort area. He was the fourth generation to farm the Clarke land, which was passed down by ancestors of William Clark, who was part of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He also retired from Dupont, where he worked for 15 years. Gar was a member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church and a proud member of the Frankfort Dairy Cone Club. He was also a longtime member of the Frankfort Morning Restaurant discussion group where they spent countless hours every morning resolving the community's as well as world's problems.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the Frankfort United Methodist Church, with Pastor Neil Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may visit Gar's family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort.
