Gary Mitchell Cochenour, 66, of Frankfort, died at 6:04pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Riverside Methodist Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on Monday, April 11, 1955, in Ross County, the son of the late Warren D. and Mildred A. Mossbarger Cochenour. On February 16, 1985, he married the former Diana L. “D” Patton, who preceded him in death on November 26, 2014.
Gary is survived by two daughters, Courtney (Jarrod) Hines of Chillicothe, Calee (Brent) Smith of Bainbridge, four grandchildren, Corbin and Caysin Smith, Lynlee and Collin Hines, three brothers, Ron (Kay) Cochenour of Tippecanoe, Spencer (Sheri) Cochenour of Frankfort, Greg Cochenour of Frankfort, special friend and “leftover nanny” Dottie Anderson, sister-in-law, Linda Cochenour of Clarksburg, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gary enjoyed spending time with his significant other, Kathy Reichelderfer and her two children, Kim (Sandy) and Matt, and their grandkids. He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Cochenour, and two nephews.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of Adena High School and earned an associate degree from Northwestern University. Gary worked as a diesel mechanic for Rush Trucking, Columbus. He was a 4H volunteer and was a rabbit barn superintendent for over 20 years. Gary loved hunting, being outdoors, and classic cars.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes, cremation will take place. A graveside service for Gary will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with Dan Bennett officiating. Friends and family are invited to visit with Gary’s family at the funeral home on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 5 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Ross County Junior Fair Building Fund, OSU Extension Office, 475 Western Ave., Suite F Chillicothe OH 45601.
