Gene Allen Purdum

Bainbridge - Gene Allen Purdum 82 of Bainbridge went to be with the Lord 8:55 pm Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his residence. He was born November 4, 1929 in Ross County to the late Guy A. and Anges Elliott Purdum, Sr. On December 3, 1951 he married the former Mary Frances Eubanks, who survives.

Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Rhonda Purdum; a daughter and son-in-law Karen and Bill Hubbard all of Bainbridge; five grandchildren, Leslie (Tim) Steger of Gahanna, Michael Hubbard of Wooster, Mason (Karen) Purdum of Bainbridge, Megan (Nate) Brown of Reynoldsburg and Cassie Purdum of Bainbridge; four great grandchildren, London and Victoria Hubbard and Addison and Carly Steger; and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister Maxine Dickey and a brother, Guy Purdum, Jr.

Gene was a 1947 graduate of Twin High School and attended Ohio University Chillicothe. He owned his first farm when he was 17 and in 1958 he was awarded Farmer of the Year in the state of Ohio. Gene was a past Board Member and Missions Board Member of the Bainbridge Church of Christ and was a past member of the Farm Bureau and Grange.Gene enjoyed trapshooting and bowling and was awarded numerous trophies.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Bainbridge Church of Christ with Steve Alexander officiating. Friends may call from 1 pm until the time of service at the Church on Saturday. Following the services cremation will take place and a private interment will be held in the Twin Township Cemetery. The SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge is serving the family.
