George W. Forcum, age 92, of Chillicothe, and a resident of Westmoreland Place, was safely called to Heaven at 4:22 p.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Westmoreland Place. A lifelong resident of Ross County, he was born at Austin on February 22, 1921 to Zennie E. and Daisy Trenner Forcum. On March 21, 1946 George married Imogene I. Everhart, his lifelong mate who preceded him in death on September 20, 2003.
George will be greatly missed as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He leaves three children; Larry A. (Carolyn) Forcum of Mechanicsville, VA, Linda S. (Tim) Sowers of Chillicothe and Steven J. (Debra) Forcum of Ludlow, MA. He leaves seven grandchildren; Kami Lynn Miller (Ryan Dorman), Bradley (Angela) Hice, Shannon (John) Scott, Matthew Forcum, Steven (Amie) Forcum, Jr., Michael (Lindsay) Forcum, Anne-Marie (Jeremy) Forcum-Brown and seven great grandchildren. George is also survived by two loving sisters; Ruby Butler of Frankfort and Bernice (Howard) Detillion of Chillicothe. A special thanks to nurses Maria and Kelly and all of the "family" on 2 West of Westmoreland Place. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by three brothers; Ernest, Kenneth and Robert, three sisters; Ruth Blazer, Louise Brown, and Mary Ethel Forcum.
George was a US Army veteran of World War II and proudly served with the 32nd (Red Arrow) Division, seeing action in New Guinea, the Phillipines and various other spots in the Pacific Theater. After the war, George worked for forty years at the Holsum Bakery/ Chef Supply Corporation.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 in EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort where military honors will be accorded by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
