Glen O. Silcott, 90, of Cedarville, died at 8 a.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2013, in Greene Oaks Care Center, Xenia. He was born on Oct. 29, 1922 in Fayette County's Wayne Township, the son of the late E. Thomas and Maude Williams Silcott. On Sept. 5, 1953 he married the former Helen Schoonover who preceded him in death on April 25, 1987. His second wife, the former Jessie Brown, who he married on Feb. 14, 1990, preceded him in death on Dec. 31, 2009.
Surviving are two stepsons; Gary L. Neff of Springfield, and Nolan R. Neff of Cedarville, numerous grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Dorothy Martin, Vina Detty, Louise Malcolm, Bessie McMullen, and two brothers; Richard and David Silcott.
Glen was a 1940 graduate of Southeastern High School. He was a US Army Veteran having served during World War II. Glen retired in 1988 from Ferno-Washington in Wilmington. He was a member of the Lattaville United Methodist Church, the Old Timers Club of Xenia, Cedarville American Legion, and had attended Xenia Grace Chapel.
Friends and family are asked to gather in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort at 10 am, for a graveside service on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 with Dan Jordan officiating.
In keeping with Glen's wishes, no calling hours will be held. A celebration of Glen's life will be held Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Xenia Grace Chapel, 100 Grace Dr., Xenia Oh 45385.
