Gordon S. Watson, 83, of Greenfield, died at 1:48 pm Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born August 11, 1931 in Ross County to the late Staton and Mary Ollie Shoemaker Watson. On December 13, 1980 he married the former Janet Knisley who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Diana Watson of Azle, TX and Terri Parsons of Dayton, OH, three sons; David Watson, Gary Dale Watson and Dana Watson all of Dayton, four stepchildren; Mike (Vicky) Hodge of Peebles, Lisa (Tim) Baxter of Bainbridge, Teresa (Rex) Leeth and Mindy (Ronnie) Brown all of New Martinsburg, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lois Whitley and Eleanor (Robert) Chroninger both of Greenfield, sisters-in-law; Dorothy Watson of Washington Court House and Thelma Watson of Greenfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers; Earl and Wayne Watson.
Gordon retired from the United States Air Force where he served his country for more than twenty years. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War. After many prayers offered by family and friends, Gordon accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was saved.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with his brother in-law, Rev. Robert Chroninger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery where military honors will be accorded. Friends may visit with Gordon's family on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
