Herbert L. "Jack" Blazer, 83, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully at 10:07p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on November 4, 1932 in Ross County, the son of the late Herbert and Edith Aileen Henness Blazer Sr. On January 18, 1951, he married the former Juanita "Susie" Seymour, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Jacki (Jerry) Byers of Chillicothe, Shirley Blazer, Dan (Cathy) Blazer, Cathy Jo (John) Clark, all of Frankfort, six grandchildren, Kelli Caplinger, Amanda Seebohm, Chad Clark, Stephanie Cavaco, Lisa Clark and Nicki Blazer, fifteen great-grandchildren, Ashleh Skaggs, Dalton Skaggs, Grace Skaggs, Emma Skaggs, Cedrik Seebohm, Jarrett Seebohm, Lilly Seebohm, Sean Clark, Aiden Clark, Isabella Mathis, Ali Mathis, Gabi Mathis, Indy Mathis, Eli Cavaco and Zhayne Roman, one great-great-grandson, Jack Sowers, one sister, Judy Hixon of Pickerington, and one brother-in-law, Bob Staats of Glendale AZ. He was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Ann Staats.
Jack was a 1951 graduate of Union Scioto High School and a United States Army veteran, having served as corporal during the Korean War. He worked in maintenance at Martin-Marietta, Chillicothe, until he retired in 1995. Jack and Susie were also charter members of the Brookside Church, Chillicothe. He was a skilled wood craftsman and loved sharing his treasures with people, especially his family. He loved to trap and fish.
This was a man who put God and his family first. A man who let his family see his love and hear his pride. This was a friend to count on and believe in, to listen and learn from. This was a husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great-grandpa to look up to and live up to every day of your life. This was the quiet, giant, man that held our family together for 65 years.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, March 25, 2016 in the Brookside Church, Chillicothe with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors accorded by the Joseph Ellsworth White American Legion Post 483, Frankfort. Friends may visit Jack's family on Thursday (today) from 6 to 8 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort.
