Hoyt W. Butler, 98, of Chillicothe, died Monday morning, November 1, 2010 at Berger Hospital, Circleville. He was born on February 22, 1912, the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Butler. On March 27, 1937 he married the former Mary F. Throckmorton who survives.
Also surviving are his children, daughters; Peggy (Bud) Blevins, Joyce (Jerry) Ater, both of Chillicothe, son; Dennis (Beverly) Butler of Frankfort, daughter-in-law; Cheryl Butler of Chillicothe, 11 grandchildren; Lynn Blevins, Beth Reisinger, Kerry Fazzina, Cindy Bowles, Dawn Ater, Melanie Detty, Jennifer Ford, Brian Butler, Amy Baker, Chris Butler, Matt Butler, 25 great grandchildren; Justin, Lindsay, Chris, Brandon, Bradley, Jordan, James, Dalton, Keigan, Anna, Allarae, Rachel, Derek, Joshua, Maddie, Megan, Cameron, Jonathon, Abigail, Reilly, Luke, Caroline, Kian, Abbie, Meryn, 2 great-great grandchildren; Drew, Nick, 1 cousin, Herressa Purdom of Circleville, lifelong friend and farming buddy; Ralph McGowan, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son; Keith Butler, grandson; Todd Blevins, sister; Lillian Bowdle, brothers; Wendell, Robert, and Roy Butler
Hoyt was a retired farmer. After his retirement he worked as a carpenter for his son-in-law, Jerry Ater. He was a member at the Pleasent Valley United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Rev. David Titler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday (today) from 5 to 8pm.
Hoyt was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. His infectious sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
