Imogene M. Rooker

Imogene M. Rooker 87 of Bainbridge passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, October 14, 2022, at her home, from natural causes. She was born Saturday, December 15, 1934, in Pike County the daughter of the late Charles O. and Emma (Gragg) Hiser. On Monday, May 16, 1955, she married John S. Rooker, who died Friday, April 12, 1996.

Surviving is one daughter Loretta and her husband Randy Penwell; grandchildren Danetta Penwell and Johnny Penwell; five great grandchildren Kenny Kerns, Kyle Kerns, Kristopher Kerns, Kya Kerns and Kameron Penwell; one great great grandchild Calista Kerns; one sister Bernice Hiser and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her sister Erma Ralston and two brothers Everett David Hiser and Arnett O. Hiser.

Imogene retired from Maple View Manor where she worked as a cook for 27 years. She enjoyed going to the Paxton Restaurant to talk with her friends and to buy chicken for her two dogs, whom she dearly loved. She smiled big when her grandchildren Johnny and Danetta visited, especially if they brought Kameron and Kya with them. However, she dearly loved all of them, along with her son-in-law Randy who she declared could do no wrong.

Graveside services will be held 11 am Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in the Bainbridge Cemetery with Troy Villars officiating. There will be no calling hours observed. The Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge is serving the family.
