Ivan Eugene Shaffer

Ivan E. Shaffer, 90, of Chillicothe, died at 10:14 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, following a brief illness. He was born on Thursday, June 5, 1930, in Chillicothe, the son of the late Ross and Elsie Tennant Shaffer. On April 14, 1951 he married the former Marian E. Temple, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2013.

Ivan is survived by two sons, Douglas B. (Barbara) Shaffer of Chillicothe, Scott M. (Cathy) Shaffer, of Frankfort, four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Stuart A. Shaffer, one grandson, and two sisters.

Ivan was a 1948 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Ivan worked in customer service at Mead Corporation for 42 years, before retiring on January 1, 1990. He loved fishing and bowling.

Ivan’s family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.  No calling hours will be held.
