Jack Hatton, age 85, of Chillicothe, passed away on Monday morning, December 19, 2022, at his home. On Friday, April 23, 1937, in Jackson, Kentucky, he was born the son of the late Edd Hatton and Lucille "Lucy" Johnson. Jack married the former Jill Verkamp on April 23, 1982, who survives.

 

Also surviving are four daughters; Jacki (Kevin) Eakins of New Vienna, Jane (Luis) Viesca, Julie (Tony) Holbrook of Chillicothe Erin (Kenny) Deering of Hamburg, NY, four sons; Jack F. (Debbie) Hatton, Craig F. Hatton, Paul Hatton and Mark (Lisa) Hatton all of Chillicothe, one son-in-law; Woody Taylor of South Salem, one daughter-in-law; Adriane Hatton of Greenfield, several grandchildren, great -grandchildren and great -great - grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Terry Lee (Patricia) Verkamp of Plano, TX and Russell Alan (Debi) Verkamp of Puyallup, WA. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Edd Hatton, mother and step-father; Lucille and Robert Seymour, a daughter, Tina Taylor, a special daughter, Robin Roberts, one son, Tony Hatton and one brother, James Barnett.

 

Jack attended Southeastern High School. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged on June 18, 1959. He then attended A-1 Truck Driving School. He was a semi-truck driver of Chef's Supply and later Mrs. Baird's Bakery. Jack was also an owner-operator. He retired from truck driving and worked at Lowes in Chillicothe, which he enjoyed. Upon retirement, he found his talent in hand-making knives and walking sticks. Jack will be forever remembered for his wonderful smile. He made friends everywhere. Jack will be so missed by all.

 

A funeral service for Jack will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022, in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Craig Corey, Joel Roberts and Kay Austin officiating. Following the service, Jack will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery. Family and friends can visit with Jack's family on Thursday morning, December 29, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may donate to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
