James O. "Jim" Martin, 77, of Clarksburg passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at 10:26 a.m. at Berger Hospital in Circleville. He was born September 28, 1934 in Clarksburg to the late Otis and Annie Fellenstein Martin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years the former Patricia "Pat" Gallaugher. Also surviving are daughters; Denise (Terry) Kern of Clarksburg and Debbie (Kevin) Roll of Frankfort. Granddaughters; Jami (J.R.) Garrison, Mallory, Anna & Jenna Martin. Grandsons; Jeff (Angela) Kern, Nick Milliken, Clay Roll, great-grandsons; Jarrett and Jace Garrison, Sister; Ruth (George) Skinner, Sisters-in-Law; Barbara (Don) Kretzer, Albie Gallaugher, Marilyn (Moe) Martin Oliver, Brothers-in-Law; Bill (Karen) Gallaugher, Ger (Bea) Gallaugher and Lloyd Graves and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his son; James "Sam" Martin, his parents, In-Laws; Leslie & Thelma Orihood Gallaugher, Sisters; Helen (Bill) Marsh, Nell (Glen) Ater, Brothers; Hoyt (Helen) Martin, Joe Martin, Brother-in-Law; James Gallaugher, Sister-in-Law; Cindy Graves and nephews; Larry Martin, Dan and Bill Marsh.
He was a loving and caring husband, dad and grand-dad. His winter hobby was working many jigsaw puzzles and sharing them with others. Jim was a 1952 graduate of Clarksburg High School, member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church. Served as Deerfield Township Trustee, Ross County 4-H advisor, member of the 4-H sale committee and served on various 4-H committees. He was also a school bus driver for the Adena School district for 30 years. Served two years in the Army and National Guard. Jim was the owner of Martin & Son Electric Service and Partner in ZMZ Grain Systems, he also worked many years at the Mead Paper Mill and Johns Manville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 2 at the Clarksburg United Methodist Church with his Brother-in-Law Rev. Bill Gallagher and Pastor Jerry Caddell officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery in Clarksburg. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Thursday, March 1 at the Ebright Funeral Home in Frankfort.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Sam Martin Memorial Scholarship fund. Please make contributions payable to Deborah Acton 9724 Westfall Rd Frankfort, Ohio 45628. The scholarship is given each year in memory of Jim's son to a High School Senior football player.
The family wishes to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at Berger Hospital in ER and ICU for the love and kindness shown to us during this difficult time. Special Thanks to all his "girls" in the Cardio Rehab Department for the wonderful care and love during the past several years. His rehab wasn't complete without a laugh or telling a joke. Please remember that he loved each and every one of you. God bless you all!
