James L. Miller, 78, of Frankfort, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, September 1, 2024. He was born on Saturday, October 6, 1945, in Bainbridge, the son of the late Alex and Sarah Myrle Mick Miller. On July 30, 1985, Jim married the former Debra Shoemaker.  

Surviving Jim are his wife, Debbie, two sons: James L. Miller, Jr. of Greenfield and Kevin L. (Sheila) Miller of Bremen, OH, one grandson: Kevin L. Miller, Jr., two sisters: Sarah Danner of Bainbridge and Betty Certain Miller of Greenfield, one brother: Dale Ernest Miller of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Aaron, one sister, Glenna Danner and his in-laws: Howard Shoemaker and Irene and Delbert O’Brien. 

Jim was an US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at Collins Packing Co. in Greenfield until it closed in 1983. He then worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Chillicothe where he oversaw Building Management. After working at the VA, he then was a truck driver for Ryan Logistics Truck Co. 

He was a lifetime member of the Greenfield Eagles Aerie 1325 and the Bradenton, Florida Eagles Aerie 3171. Jim was also a lifetime member of the Chillicothe VFW Post 108, the Chillicothe AMVETS and the American Legion Post 757. He was a member of the Chillicothe Moose Lodge.  

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 10:30 am in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Pastor Dan Bennett officiating. Following the service, Jim will be laid to rest in the Greenlawn Cemetery,  Frankfort. Military Honors will be accorded by the US Army. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. There will be an Eagles service at 7:30 pm.
