Jane Young Kitchen

Mary Jane Young Kitchen, age 86 of Alpharetta, GA died on 24 December 2023 at The Oaks of Alpharetta Senior Living Community.  She was born on June 7, 1937 in Columbus, Ohio and was raised in Middleport, Ohio, a small Ohio River town.

She was a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.  In 1957 she married James W. Kitchen and moved to Chillicothe, Ohio until 1984 when they moved to Micco, Florida.  After retirement she moved to Alpharetta, Georgia. Ms Young was an educator having taught elementary school in Ohio at Union Scioto Local School; special education junior high at Devereux School in Melbourne, Florida; and at Sebastian River High School in Indian River County, Vero Beach, Florida.  She retired in 2007 as a Resource Staffing Specialist having worked at Wabasso School, Sebastian River High School, Sebastian River Elementary, Rosewood Magnet School, and Fellsmere Elementary.

She is survived by one daughter Deborah "Debby" J. Cawley of Chillicothe, Ohio; son-in-law George A. Best, of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; three grandchildren Jeremy K (Erica) Cawley of Grove City, Ohio, Allison Witherell of Atlanta, Georgia, Trevor J (Pamela) Cawley of Plant City, FL, two step-grandsons Nicholas Best and Brian Best, both of Omaha, Nebraska; two great granddaughters Ayla Cawley and Leah Cawley of Grove City Ohio; one great grandson, Tegan Cawley of Plant City, Florida; and numerous cousins.

Ms Young was predeceased by an infant daughter; daughter Denise Jane Best of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; her husband of 38 years, James W. Kitchen; son-in-law Kevin E. Cawley of Bainbridge, Ohio; a brother, Joseph A. Young Jr., a sister Jeanne Anne Bradbury and her parents, Joseph A. Young Sr. and Dulcie J. Young Reibel and her stepfather, Robert J. Reibel, all from Ohio.

Calling hours will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home of Bainbridge, Ohio, on Saturday, 30 December 2023 to be followed by a graveside service at 3:00 pm in Springbank Cemetery, State Route 104 North, Chillicothe, Ohio.
