Jerry Oscar Brown, born October 27, 1948, lost his battle with cancer on the morning of September 30, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Beatrice Morris Brown and an infant brother, Carlyn Brown.
He leaves behind his lifelong love, Charlene Ruth Hurley; a son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Keeley Brown; two granddaughters, Brianna and Nah-khia Brown; step daughter, Alicia Hurley Carmical; two step granddaughters, CJ and Holly Carmical; two sisters, Margene Beatty and Wanda Cokonougher; his extended family, Ruth I., Chuck (Kim), Tony, Tim, Andy (Loretta) and Nick Hurley and Joy (Steve) Phillips as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Also surviving are numerous friends, including special friends, Mike Knisley, Starly (Danny) Daughtery, Perry Thompson, Rick Greene, Joe and Karen Kerns and too many others to name.
Jerry was a proud, former Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He held the rank of Second Vice at the American Legion Post 14 of Bainbridge and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Greenfield.
His immediate family wishes to extend a special thanks to his great nephew Cody Hurley, as well as his nephew and niece, Brian and Jessa Beatty.
Everyone is asked to gather 10:30 am Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the Bainbridge Cemetery for a graveside service with a military service by the Ross County Honor Guard. Calling hours will be held 5-7 pm on Friday at the SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home.
