Jerry E. Merritt, 74, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 6p.m. at Adena Greenfield Area Medical Center. Jerry was born on February 27, 1941 in Hillsboro, Ohio, the son of the late Carl R. and Gladys Shaw Merritt.
Jerry is survived by three sons; Wesley (Shelly) Merritt of Frankfort, Glenn (Lora) Merritt and Jerrold Merritt all of Greenfield, one daughter; Susie Gill of Greenfield, three grandchildren; James Merritt, Melaine (John) Peters and Logan Merritt all of Greenfield, two great-grandchildren; Phoebe and Trenton Peters of Greenfield, five sisters; Joyce (Richard) Powell, Mary Blair, Shirley Crawford all of Washington Court House, Linda (Steve) Duncan of Dayton, Ohio and Bonnie (Tim) Flenner of Indiana, three brothers; David Merritt of Kentucky, Ben Merritt of Washington Court House and Phillip (Karen) Merritt of Good Hope and several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to friends Virgie Merritt, Ruby and Mike Stright, Dan and Lois Purdom and Tom Brown.
He is preceded in death by one sister; Ruth Merritt, five brothers; Donald Merritt, Rodger Merritt, Norman Merritt, Herbert Merritt and Danny Merritt.
Jerry attended Edward Lee McClain High School. He was a member of The Bible Missionary Church. In his early days he worked at Redman's Mobile Homes and Candle-Lite, but his true profession was being a carpenter.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00p.m in the ANDERSON-EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Greenfield with Rev. Danny Purdom and Rev. Jim Jewell officiating. Burial will follow in Gilboa Cemetery; New Petersburg .Friends may visit with Jerry's family at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contribution can be made to the funeral home to help the family with expenses.
