Jewell E. Garman, 90, of Greenfield died at 8:10 A.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at her home. She was born on May 15, 1927 in South Shore, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Leon and Viola Rice Thompson. On October 7, 1951 she married Dane M. Garman who preceded her in death on June 12, 2012.
Survivors include, one son; Greg (Robin) Garman of Greenfield, three grandsons; Bryce (Sarah) Garman, Cale (Sierra Houser) Garman and Adam (Amy) Garman, six great-grandchildren; Isabel, Claire, Elisabeth, Gabrielle, Gracelynn and Banks Garman, one sister; Bonita Weddington of Portsmouth, one brother; Leon Thompson of Kernersville, N.C. She was preceded in death by one son; Michael Garman and three brothers; Harry, Lowell and Ted Thompson.
Jewell was a 1945 graduate of McKell High School in South Shore, KY. She worked most of her life as the accountant for their family business, Garman Feed and Supply. She was a member of the South Salem United Methodist Church, Hillsboro Chapter 441 Order of Eastern Star, Ladies Golf Association at Buckeye Hills, and Maumee Valley Civic Theatre in Napoleon, OH. She also liked to play pinochle and bridge. She liked flowers, watching the birds outside, and the cows grazing in the pasture behind her house. Jewell was a very active artist who loved to paint and was a longtime member of the Leesburg Brush and Pallet Guild.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 26, 2018 in the South Salem United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Philip Malone and Pastor Leon Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the church.
