Jo Ann Hawkins, 80, of Chillicothe, died at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Traditions of Chillicothe. She was born on November 7, 1933 in Ross County the daughter of the late Homer and Mary Ann Willis Bowdle, Sr.. On December 16, 1950 she married George H. Hawkins and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1994.

She is survived by her daughter; Georgia (Bill) Rowe of Chillicothe, grandchildren; Randy Rowe, Amy (Joe Williams) Rowe, both of Frankfort, great-grandchildren; Tyler and Josey Williams, sister; Janie Music of Cincinnati, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were two brothers; Homer "Shorty" Bowdle and James "Toad" Bowdle.

Jo Ann was a 1951 graduate from the Clarksburg High School, and a 1974 graduate of the Cincinnati School of Cosmetology. She was the owner of Jo's Hairport in Chillicothe where she also worked as a hairdresser. Jo Ann was an avid league bowler at Shawnee Lanes, an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, enjoyed playing the organ, cooking for family and friends.

Friends are invited to gather for a graveside service for Jo Ann, on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Brown's Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg with Rev. Stan Skaggs officiating. In following with Jo Ann's wishes no visitation hours will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Union Township EMS, 12034 Pleasant Valley Rd, Chillicothe, OH 45601. The EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
