Joe Bill Cross

Joe Bill Cross 71 of Bainbridge unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, from a logging accident. He was born Saturday, May 12, 1951, in Pike County, the son of the late Junior F. Cross and Ellen Mae (Hatfield) Tong. On January 25, 1969, he married the former Melody S. Penwell, who survives.

Joe Bill is also survived by his children Billy Joe (Bonnie) Cross, Steven Joe (Tammy) Cross and Pamela Sue Cross; grandchildren Samatha Jo, Jonathan, Cody, Serena Renee and Landon; a great grandson August; a sister, Wanda (Larry) Boydston and brothers Jack Cyrus and Steven (Sharon) Cross.

In addition to his parents Joe Bill was predeceased by his stepfather Darrell Tong; brother Jerry Cross and sister Sue Norris.

Joe Bill was a retired bus driver and custodian of Western Local Schools. He enjoyed hunting and being in the woods surrounded by nature.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Smith-Moore-Ebright Funeral Home, Bainbridge with Rev. Charles Elliott officiating, following the service Joe Bill will be laid to rest in the Cynthiana Cemetery beside his mother Mae. Friends may visit with Joe Bill’s family from 11 am until the time of service.
