On Monday, June 21st, 2021, Joe Allen Lane, age 66 of Frankfort, passed unexpectedly at 3:00 pm at Adena Pike Medical Center. Joe was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born Thursday, December 16th, 1954, in Chillicothe, to Joe L. and Henrietta B. Lane. On January 26th, 1974, he married the love of his life, Gale Braden Lane, who survives.
In addition to his wife Gale, Joe is survived by one son, Scott Braden Lane (Amy Curry), Grandsons Conner and Davis Lane all of Frankfort. Sisters Karen (Mark) Dewitt, and Tracey (Todd) Uhrig both of Frankfort. Mother-in-law Jo Braden of Washington Court House and brother-in-law Tom (Debbie) Braden of Arizona. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe Allen was a 1973 graduate of Adena High School. For years, Joe worked along side his parents at Frankfort Supply Center before his parents’ retirement in 1996. Joe worked as a Pioneer Seed Representative for many years. Joe began selling Pioneer Seed in 1978. Joe and his family continued with Pioneer Seed and established Lane Seed Sales in 1997. In recent years, Joe was preparing to begin his retirement. Joe served 27 years on The Ross County Steer and Heifer Classic Committee where he prepared and administered cattle shows for local youth participants and beyond.
Joe loved sports. He was a huge fan of basketball and loved Lebron James. For many years, Joe competed in local trap shooting competitions at Mid-State Gun Club in Frankfort. Joe enjoyed watching cattle shows and making the annual trip to the North American Livestock Exposition in Louisville with family. Joe was known for his kind and gentle nature with a warm embrace and a firm handshake. He never met a stranger and loved meeting and talking to new people. He had an infectious smile and demeanor. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and loved ones. Joey always had enough time for a good conversation over a strong cup of coffee. When his father passed in 2004, he was deemed “Mr. Frankfort”, and in this case the apple does not fall far from the tree. Joe Allen will be missed tremendously by all.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME Frankfort, with Pastors John Welsh, Craig Reichert, and Troy Putnam officiating. Following the service, Joe will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. Friends and family are invited to call on the family Thursday, June 24th, 2021, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME Frankfort.
