Joel Holbert

Joel Holbert 71 of Bainbridge passed from this life to his eternal home Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born January 4, 1952, in Ross County to the late John and Dorothy M. (Skaggs) Holbert. On December 5, 1975, he married, his wife of 47 years, Cathi R. (Adams) Holbert, who survives.

Joel is also survived by sons Joel Adam Holbert and Justin Walter (Danielle) Holbert; grandchildren Magnolia Jo Holbert, E`owyn Holbert and Trek Holbert; sister Jean (William) Whitehouse; brothers John W. Holbert and Robert (Misty) Holbert; brother-in-law William Strausbaugh; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including a special niece and caretaker Cami Holbert.

In addition to his parents Joel was preceded in death by his sister Jane Strausbaugh and nephew Steve Holbert.

Joel was a graduate of Paint Valley High School. He was an extremely hard worker throughout his life, and he along with his wife, Cathi owned and operated Holbert Paving, Lazy H Cabins and Holbert and Sons Trucking. When Joel was relaxing, he enjoyed horses, airplanes, trap shooting and spending time with his family.

A celebration of Joel’s life will be held from 4-5:30 pm Sunday, May 7, 2023, in the Paint Valley High School Cafeteria. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you contribute to the Joel Holbert memorial scholarship; and if anyone has a favorite story of Joel, please share it with the family as well, both can be mailed to 306 W.
