John Robert "Bob" Anderson, 100, of Frankfort, died at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 21, 1914 in Clarksburg, the son of the late Francis Marion and Emma Stephens Anderson. In February of 1942, he married Charlene L. Smith who died in 1970. Bob married Dorothy A. Simmons on February 23, 1974 who survives.
Also surviving are one niece; Judith (Stephen) Gary of Clarksburg, three nephews; Marion Carter of Arizona, Byron Carter of Circleville, James Leonard of Albuquerque, NM, several great nieces and nephews, two step grandchildren; James Todd Simmons of Florida, Gary Lee Simmons of Frankfort, one sister; Carrie Leonard of Albuquerque, NM and Bob and Dorothy's special neighbors; Kevin and Debbie Roll. Bob was preceded in death by two brothers; Glenn and Roy Anderson, one sister; Rinda Mae Carter and one step son James Lee Simmons.
Bob was a 1933 graduate of Clarksburg High School. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WW II where served in England for three years. Bob owned and operated Anderson's Sohio station in Frankfort for many years and he retired on November 1, 1979. Bob was the oldest member of Brown's Chapel United Methodist Church. He and Dorothy attended the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. He was a 50 year member of the Frankfort Masonic Lodge 309 - Free and Accepted Masons, and was a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of Columbus, the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 - Frankfort American Legion, and the Frankfort Lions Club where in 2012 he was made a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. in EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Pastor Jerry Caddell and Rev. Dr. Bob Getty officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort where military honors will be accorded by the Frankfort American Legion. Friends may visit with the Anderson family on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
