John R. Irvin

John R. Irvin, Sr. 64 of Piketon passed from this life Friday, May 5, 2017 at OSU, Columbus. He was born February 11, 1953 in Jamestown the son of the late Lewis and Mary Margaret Leming Irvin. On November 3, 1980 he married Johnnie L. Hughes, who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Shannon (Tyke) Hughes-Elliott, Mary (Jerry) O’Diam, Bobby (Amanda Jo) Irvin, Desiree` (Bobby) Johnson, Angie Irvin (John Lowman) and John (Sandy) Irvin, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Dillion, Deven, Reece, Bria, Izzy, Collin, Laynie, Jonathan, Chrissy (Steve), Jessica, Tiffany and Dakota; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Rebecca Harris; brother, William Irvin; several nieces, nephews and friends including Aaron Bear, Bill Calver and David Fowler.

In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Tater and brother, Arthur Irvin.

John was an Army veteran of Vietnam and he was a member of the American Legion Post 142 of Waverly. He also loved his truck and his dog, Missy.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Morgantown Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Jim Sollard officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardner Cemetery. Friends may visit with John’s family from Noon until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.  The SMITH-MOORE-EBRIGHT Funeral Home of Bainbridge is serving the family.
