John Calvert Marshall, 85, of Washington C.H., died Friday, March 16, 2012 at his home in Staunton. He was born in Cynthiana, Ohio on August 30, 1926, the son of the late John Samuel and Evelyn Holmes Marshall.
He is survived by one sister: Sheila J. Buffington of Troy, OH, three nieces; Nikki Fischer, Joyce Lawson, Saundra Espich, two nephews; Kevin Buffington and Mark Mutter and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Mutter and one nephew, Craig Buffington.
Calvert was a graduate of Western Local High School at Latham. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He returned home and worked as a blacksmith in Cynthiana for 46 years. He was a member of Sinking Spring Masonic Lodge, Fayette Masonic Lodge 107, and was made an Honorary Member of the Masonic Lodges in the Seventh Masonic District , he was a Royal Arch Masons of Hillsboro and Commandary of Hillsboro, Scottish Rite - Valley of Cincinnati, Order of Eastern Star, was made a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the DAV in Washington C.H.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort with Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Fayette County Honor Guardo. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service with a Masonic service held at 12:45 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grand Lodge of Ohio Charitable Foundation, PO Box 629, Worthington, OH 43085.
