John Warren Peters, 74, of Frankfort, died suddenly at 4:11p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Chillicothe VA Hospital Urgent Care. He was born on Wednesday, November 3, 1948, in Chillicothe, the son of the late John William and Grace Tillis Peters. On June 19, 2009, he married the former Shella Wolford, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son, John "Brad" (Leslie) Peters of Circleville, daughter, Samantha (Whitney) Stephens of Waverly, four grandchildren, Avery and Zander Peters, Coen Van Scoter, Henry Stephens, his dog, Max, three brothers, William "Mac" (Pam) Peters of Chillicothe, who was his twin, George "Scott" Peters of Richmond Dale, Charles "Boo" Peters of Chillicothe, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorna Overly, and twin siblings, Robert "Bob" Peters, and Melissa "Sis" Peters.

John was a 1967 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, Vietnam War, from 1967 to 1970. John worked in telecommunications and retired from Avaya, Columbus. He was a member of the Joseph Ellsworth White Post 483 Frankfort American Legion, Chillicothe VFW Post 108, Scioto Lodge No. 6, Chillicothe, where he was a Past Master, the Grand Council Royal & Select Masons of Ohio, Chillicothe, where he was a Past Illustrious Master, and the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Chillicothe #4, where he was a Past High Priest. John was also a Past Commander of the Chillicothe Commandery No. 8, Knight of the York Cross of Honor Ohio Priory No. 18, Allied Masonic Degree of Jackson, Aladdin Shriners, and the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. John was honored to be able to go on the Columbus Honor Flight, 2021, with his brother, Mac.

A funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort, with Pastor Edwin Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort with military honors accorded by the Ross County Honor Guard. Friends are invited to visit with John's family on Monday at the funeral home from 11a.m. until the time of service. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home on Monday.
